When using IPv6 proxies, it's essential to verify whether the target website supports IPv6. If a website does not support IPv6, any request made through an IPv6-only proxy will fail, regardless of whether the proxy itself is working properly.
This article outlines simple steps to verify a website's compatibility with IPv6 before troubleshooting or escalating issues.
1. Use an IPv6 Compatibility Checker Tool
You can easily test if a website is reachable via IPv6 using online tools. Here are a few we recommend:
dnschecker.org - IPv6 Compatibility Checker
Simply enter the domain (e.g.,
example.com)It will show whether an AAAA (IPv6) DNS record is present and globally reachable.
This site also offers a website validation tool to see if the domain has working IPv6 connectivity.
Enter the domain name and scroll down to the IPv6 ping tests.
If the IPv6 pings from global locations fail or don't resolve, the site likely doesn't support IPv6.
While primarily a DNS diagnostic tool, it also shows if a domain has an AAAA record under its DNS report.
2. Manual Terminal Check (For Advanced Users)
If you're familiar with the terminal or shell, you can use dig or nslookup to directly query the AAAA record of a website:
Using dig:
dig AAAA example.com
