Windows can apply an HTTP proxy to applications that use Windows system proxy settings. An HTTP proxy that supports CONNECT can also carry HTTPS website traffic. This does not mean the connection between your device and the proxy server is encrypted with TLS.

1. Open Settings and go to Network & internet, then Proxy.
2. Under Manual proxy setup, select Set up next to Use a proxy server.
3. Turn on Use a proxy server.
4. Enter the proxy server name or IP address and the port shown in your Proxy-Cheap dashboard.
5. Add any addresses that should bypass the proxy only if your setup requires exceptions, then select Save.

6. Open a browser that uses Windows system proxy settings and visit an IP-check website. Confirm that it displays the proxy IP or proxy exit IP.

Authentication and compatibility

• If the application prompts for a username and password, enter the proxy credentials from your dashboard, not your Proxy-Cheap account login.
• If you use IP whitelist authentication, add your current public IP in the dashboard and leave proxy credentials out of the application.
• Some applications ignore the Windows system proxy and must be configured separately.
• The Windows manual proxy setting is not a SOCKS5 configuration. Use a SOCKS5-capable application or extension when SOCKS5 is required.
• Standard forward-proxy setup does not normally require installing a Proxy-Cheap root certificate. Install a certificate only when Support provides it for a documented configuration and you have verified its source and purpose.

Use a PAC setup script only when Proxy-Cheap or your network administrator gives you a real PAC URL. Do not construct a PAC URL from the proxy IP address and port.
