This guide explains how to configure a Proxy-Cheap HTTP proxy in Windows 10 or Windows 11. It applies to applications that use Windows system proxy settings. The screenshots show Windows 11; the layout differs slightly in Windows 10. For SOCKS5, use an application that supports it directly.

What is a proxy server and why do I need one?

A proxy server forwards requests between your device and a website. For traffic routed through it, the website sees the proxy’s exit IP instead of your connection’s public IP. Businesses use proxies for tasks such as checking regional website content and collecting publicly available pricing information.

A proxy does not guarantee anonymity, faster internet, or additional security. Its capabilities depend on the service and configuration.
 

How to set the proxy server on windows 10/11?

Step 1: In windows search enter proxy and press proxy settings

Step 2: Under Manual proxy setup, find Use a proxy server. In Windows 11, click Set up. In Windows 10, the switch and fields appear directly on the Proxy settings page.

Step 3: Turn on Use a proxy server. Enter the proxy server address and port from your Proxy-Cheap dashboard in their corresponding fields, then click Save. You do not need to enable Automatically detect settings for this manual setup.

Step 4: Open a browser configured to use Windows system proxy settings. If a proxy extension controls the connection, set it to use the system proxy settings. If prompted for authentication, enter your proxy username and password from the Proxy-Cheap dashboard, not your account login. For IP-whitelist authentication, make sure your current public IP is whitelisted.

Step 5: Open an IP-check website and confirm that it displays the proxy IP or proxy exit IP.
