For most automation tools, HTTP is the best starting point. It is widely supported by browsers, browser extensions, scraping tools, and automation platforms.
Choose SOCKS5 only when your application specifically supports SOCKS proxies or requires a TCP proxy connection that is not limited to HTTP and HTTPS traffic.
Your application must support the protocol you choose. If you are unsure, start with HTTP and test the connection in your tool.
Available protocols depend on the proxy product and network. Check your Proxy-Cheap dashboard for the options available for your proxy.
