Android does not provide one universal, device-wide proxy setting for cellular data. Some phones allow an HTTP proxy to be added to the mobile carrier APN, but the option depends on the device manufacturer, Android version, and carrier.
Before you begin
- Record or screenshot the original APN settings so you can restore them.
- Use only the proxy server address, port, protocol, and authentication method shown in your Proxy-Cheap dashboard.
- Do not replace the APN Username or Password with your Proxy-Cheap credentials. Those fields are normally used to authenticate the phone with the mobile carrier.
- APN proxy settings may not support proxy username/password authentication and may not be applied consistently by every app or device. If your proxy requires credentials, use an application that explicitly supports authenticated HTTP or SOCKS5 proxies.
Configure the APN proxy when the option is available
- Open Settings, then go to Network & internet, SIMs or Mobile network, and Access Point Names. The exact path varies by phone.
- Open the active APN. If your phone allows it, create a copy instead of changing the carrier APN directly.
- Enter the Proxy-Cheap server address in Proxy and the supplied port in Port. Leave the carrier APN, MCC, MNC, APN username, APN password, and protocol fields unchanged.
- Save the APN, select it, and reconnect mobile data.
- Turn off Wi-Fi so the phone uses mobile data. Open an IP-check website and confirm that it displays the expected proxy IP or proxy exit IP.
If mobile data stops working, restore the original APN. If the APN is locked, authentication fails, or only some apps use the proxy, use an app-specific proxy configuration instead.
